Betsy Vincent brings many cultural influences to her painting having lived in Europe, Japan, and throughout the United States.

The spirit and substance of an open countyside whispers through Betsy's work, sometimes in subject but more frequently in the juxtaposition of vibrant color and simplicity of lines:"There is a crisp independence to these regions," she says. "I like to capture this in attitude of a model or the blends of bright color in landscapes. With this show I've explored the additional element of canvas size in relation to the subject."

Besty earned her BFA from Carnegie Mellon University, and continues her education at Radcliffe College as well as under the instruction of master artists throughout New England. Over time her medium has evolved from an emphasis on watercolor to a preference for oils. "Oils convey a depth of experience, be it through the laying of color or thick stroked that weight on the canvas. Oils can reflect a greater spectrum of complexity, from a delicate subtlety to a caked poignancy."

Betsy has exibited in solo and group shows throughout New England, Europe and Japan. She is a member and a Copley Artist of The Copley Art Society in Boston. Betsy has served two terms on the Board of the Scottsdale Artist School and has served on the Board of the Western Artsts Associates of the Phoenix Art Museum.
